New Conference Sponsor announced for UKIFDA EXPO and Future Fuels Conference 2022

9th December 2021

Liquid fuels trade association the UK and Ireland Fuel Distributors Association (UKIFDA) is proud to reveal the sponsor for the Future Fuels Conference to be held at UKIFDA EXPO 2022 in Liverpool on April 27th & 28th as fuel supplier and environmental services company Crown Oil.

Crown Oil is a family run business with headquarters located in Bury, Greater Manchester. The business started in 1928 when Harry Greensmith began selling lamp oil door to door to residents in Heywood and became affectionately known as ‘Harry Lamp Oil’.

90 years later in 2019, Crown started investing in the renewable liquid fuel, Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO). Today it aims to be Carbon neutral by April 2022 and Net Zero direct emissions (scope 1 and 2) by 2030 or sooner.

Crown Oil is one of the first UK fuel suppliers to run its entire fleet on HVO and is also the main HVO supplier to UKIFDA and OFTEC’s residential renewable liquid fuel demonstration project which aims to swap 200 homes using heating oil to HVO by Christmas 2021.

To reflect their environmental initiatives within the liquid fuel distribution industry, Crown Oil also won UKIFDA’s Green Award for 2021.

Ken Cronin UKIFDA CEO commented “The Crown Oil journey from Lamp Oil to HVO is so reminiscent of the journey many fuel supply companies have taken where innovation has been key to the longevity of the industry.  When one door starts to shut another surely opens – but always based on the values we all hold of ensuring our customers are provided with the right product for their needs.

“I can’t think of a better sponsor for our future fuels conference next year in Liverpool. Governments and devolved powers are beginning to realise there is a continuing need to supply liquid fuels but ones that have significantly reduced impact on the environment.”

Mark Andrews Director of Crown Oil commented “We have been impressed by the passion and commitment shown by UKIFDA and its Members to try and focus the industry on the future and what all our ultimate customers need. We are delighted to be sponsoring the conference as it continues our journey and commitment to that future and we see the event as another vital stepping stone to achieving a lower carbon world.”

Dawn Shakespeare, UKIFDA Membership and Events Manager, added: “It is great Crown has committed to the conference and the subject matter in this way. We have been very pleased with the level of support for the event next year and stands for the exhibition are selling out quickly. We will be working with Crown on our line up for the two days of the conference which will be held each morning and we will announce in the new year the expected line up of speakers and their topics of discussion.
