Full members of UKIFDA are those companies who distribute fuels to end users in the UK & Ireland . All operate rigid tankers and sometimes also articulated tankers to take fuel to users including domestic properties and commercial, agricultural, marine and construction companies.
Associate members are typically companies who provide goods and services to the liquid fuels distribution sector and can be based anywhere in the world .
As the industry body, our purpose is to offer all the support liquid fuel distributors and associate members need to run their businesses safely, sustainably and successfully. We will act as a co-ordinated voice of business when talking to Government and/or stakeholders and quickly disseminate messages about Government policy to our members.
All membership offers a wide range of benefits.
We have a unique position at the centre of the supply chain, so we can engage with and influence the primary suppliers, UKPIA, the TSA, OFTEC and end users, including PRAs. We also work alongside Transport Forums and Associations, offering added value to our members through our connections at every level.
With approximately 1.5 million households in the UK and 686,000 in the Republic of Ireland using fuel for heating, and an estimated 250,000 commercial fuel boilers in each country, our role is to keep our members informed of any important new developments and changes in their market.
UKIFDA represents at least 76% of the non-retail volume distributed to end users in the UK. Our distributor members range from national companies down to small independent distributorships jointly employing over 9,135 people in the UK and the Republic of Ireland and a combined turnover of £12bn.
On behalf of our industry, we work with Governments in the UK and Ireland and the European Commission.
We promote our members and industry in a positive light to support operational activity, reinforce existing work, influence opinion and enhance reputation, helping our members share best practice and overcome issues. For example, we’re currently lobbying for the retention of liquid fuel heating using liquid biofuels as ‘green’ alternative fuels for the future.
